A big cargo ship that was carrying luxurious automobiles from Germany to the U.S. sank Tuesday within the mid-Atlantic — practically two weeks after a fireplace broke out on board, in response to Portuguese navy officers.
Officers confirmed that the ship, Felicity Ace, misplaced stability and sank about 250 miles off Portugal’s Azores islands because it was being towed to land. The ship sank in a location outdoors Portugal’s financial zone in an space that is practically 2 miles deep.

In its assertion, the Portuguese navy stated that just a few items of particles and a small quantity of oil have been seen the place the ship sank and that tugboats have been breaking apart the patch of oil with hoses.
One of many vessels that had been monitoring the Felicity Ace was en path to Ponta Delgada within the Azores to choose up air pollution containment gear, Portuguese navy officers stated.

The Portuguese navy rescued all 22 members of the crew from the ship, which was scheduled to reach in Davisville, R.I., on Feb. 16. The crew was taken by helicopter to Faial island within the Azores, the AP reported. Not one of the crew members was damage.
Volkswagen confirmed to The Wall Road Journal that insurance coverage has lined the lack of its automobiles, which may very well be a minimum of $155 million, insurance coverage consultants advised the Journal. The full estimated loss for all of the cargo, which included Porsches, Bentleys, Lamborghinis and Volkswagens, is near $440 million, the Journal reported.
