Guiyang, Sep 19 (UNI/Xinhua) Eight individuals have been killed, and 7 others remained lacking as of 8:10 a.m. Sunday after a passenger ship overturned in a river in southwest China’s Guizhou Province, in line with native authorities.

The accident occurred at 4:50 p.m. on Saturday in Zangke River in Zangke Township within the metropolis of Liupanshui.

As of 8:10 a.m. Sunday, 39 individuals have been rescued from the river, with 31 in non-life-threatening circumstances, and eight died after being rescued.

The ship was designed to hold as much as 40 individuals. Authorities are nonetheless checking the precise variety of onboard passengers.

A rescue operation and an investigation into the reason for the accident are each underway.
