BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) – Researchers learning the wreckage of the final U.S. slave ship on the Alabama coast have made a stunning discovery.

A not too long ago launched report exhibits that many of the wood schooner stays intact, together with the pen that was used to imprison African captives through the journey throughout the Atlantic Ocean in 1860.

Stays of the Clotilda have been beneath examine close to Cell since they had been found a number of years in the past.

Researcher Jim Delgado says the truth that a lot of the ship stays in a single piece enhances its historic worth.

The wood schooner illegally introduced 110 African captives to the South earlier than the American Civil Battle.
